Toy Story 4 looks like a fun and fresh concept

The new trailer for Toy Story 4 dropped earlier and it displays the Woody-centric story in great detail. Check it out here:

Toy Story 4 is an adventure with the toys as they grow with their new owner Bonnie, the girl that Andy gives his toys too at the end of Toy Story 3. As many kids do, Bonnie has made a toy out of some random household objects. Forky is a plastic spork with googly eyes and pipecleaners for limbs. Seeing as he is made of glue and child’s ingenuity, he is rather fragile. Woody and the gang do what they can to protect him.

The trailer would suggest that Bo is back with the group. Bo was Woody’s love interest in the first two films and was lost off-screen before the third installment. This time around it looks like Buzz has a bit less focus on him within the plot. This movie’s big addition, though, seems to be the Evel Knievel inspired Duke Kaboom. Much like Toy Story, the plot seems to be another “lost in the city” concept. Mixing the characters around with some carnival prizes and plush toys is an interesting choice as the previous films focused mainly on action figures.

The trailer has a significant lack of previous characters including Jesse the Yodellin’ Cowgirl. Granted, she may have hung back at Bonnie’s with some of our other originals. Many people were unsure about this film due to the finality of Toy Story 3’s ending. This trailer, however, shows that Pixar will not disappoint when re-invigorating a franchise with fresh and interesting ideas. Toy Story 4 hits theaters June 21st.
