20th Century Fox’s Ford V Ferrari is a film about Henry Ford Jr. contracting Carroll Shelby (Matt Damon) to build a Ford that can best a Ferrari in racing. He calls upon race car driver Ken Miles (Christian Bale) to captain the vessel. Check it out:
Carroll Shelby was a racer turned automotive designer who went on to become the namesake of the Shelby Mustang. Matt Damon plays the engineer opposite Christian Bale’s Ken Miles, a highly decorated racer with a bit of an interesting personality.
The film is based on the true story of how Henry Ford Jr. wanted to beat Ferrari in the upcoming 1966 Le Mans race. The duo is given 90 days to come up with a car that can get the job done. The film also stars Punisher lead Jon Bernthal as Lee Iacocca, famous Ford executive.
James Mangold, director of Walk The Line and Logan, sits behind the camera with the Butterworth Brothers (Edge of Tomorrow) handling the screenplay. The movie looks to be an interesting take on a story few people may know the details of. It gives off award nominee vibes for sure.
Ford V Ferrari hits theaters November 15th.
