Brad Pitt’s Ad Astra looks to be a good ol’ space mystery

The trailer for Ad Astra, starring Brad Pitt, Tommy Lee Jones and Liv Tyler, released today. Take a gander down below:

The movie is just one of the many space-based, astronaut movies to come out in the past few years. These films were once few far in between, but after Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar we seem to get a new one every year. Gravity, Alien: Covenant, First Man, Life and The Martian are all interesting films in their own right. Ad Astra, however, looks to separate itself by being a mystery and exploration film about a man going into space to find his mysteriously vanished father. His father who, played by Tommy Lee Jones, never came back from a mission centered around extraterrestrial activity.

Brad Pitt plays the lead astronaut in search of his old man. Will he be able to uncover the mysteries of the great beyond? Is his father still out there? Are we ready for Liv Tyler’s space movie love interest return since Armageddon? The film is written and directed by James Gray (The Lost City of Z and We Own The Night). Writing credits also go to Ethan Gross, a writer from the J.J. Abrams television show Fringe.

Ad Astra hits theaters September 30th, 2019.
