Marvel News: Endgame re-release, Keanu in the MCU and updates on ‘The Eternals’

Marvel has announced that Avengers: Endgame will be re-released in theaters with extra deleted scenes. It will receive a worldwide release and has a runtime of 3 hours and 8 minutes. The official date of the release is still unknown, but the fact still remains that fans will get an even more dense Endgame experience.

In an interview regarding the release, Kevin Feige made comment that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has reached out to Keanu Reeves for past films. Reeves has been in a bit of a resurgence in recent years after the popularity of the John Wick series. Reeves has found his way into Toy Story 4, the upcoming Bill & Ted film and even the video game Cyberpunk 2077. Feige playfully stated “We talk to him for almost every film we make.” Feige also said that they are in agreement in only making it happen if the project is a good fit. With upcoming character-intro films like Shang-Chi or The Eternals, you would think now is the time to blend him into a new phase of faces.

Speaking of The Eternals, the latest is that the film begins production soon and has already casted four actors. The film is about an early civilization of some very powerful people. The lead role of Sersi is played by none other than Angelina Jolie. She is one of the more higher profile actors to ever be cast in a lead for the MCU. Game Of Thrones alum Richard Madden has also been cast in an unknown role, though rumors indicate he will be playing Ikarus. Two other unnamed roles have been filled by stand-up comedian Kumail Nanjiani and Train To Busan actor Dong-seok Ma.

The film is said to also give a bit of backstory on Thanos, seeing as he is one of the people of this early civilization in the comics. The screenwriters are the duo of Matthew K. & Ryan Firpo. The two are well known for writing and directing many shorts and documentaries over the years. The film’s director is Chloé Zhao. She who wrote and directed The Rider in 2017, it was nominated for 5 Spirit Awards, and is the first female person-of-color to direct an MCU film.

What are you most excited for? What role would you like to see Keanu Reeves play for the MCU?
