Amazon’s ‘Free Meek’ highlights the injustice the rapper faced with Philadelphia Police

Rapper Meek Mill was incarcerated for assault of a police officer and possession of a firearm back when he was 18 years old. Evidence has come to light, since then, that seems to reveal a corrupt Philadelphia Police Department and a fabricated story to convict him. Amazon Prime Video will be releasing a documentary series about this whole process and how it transformed a young battle rapper to a grown, reformed activist.

Amazon’s Free Meek documentary is a six part mini-series that interviews several officers, detectives and figures involved with the case of Meek Mill, as well as Hip Hop Billionaire Jay-Z. The documentary will also include dramatized reenactments of the scene and first hand accounts from Meek himself.

The film is directed by documentary director Isaac Solotaroff and hits Amazon Prime on August 6th.
