It was announced a while back that Netflix would be making a series based on the popular video game franchise The Witcher. Even more exciting, Man Of Steel and Mission Impossible: Fallout star Henry Cavill would be playing Geralt of Rivia. Geralt is the lead character in the video games. Netflix recently released a few photos and promo materials for the series.
We get a few more up close and personal shots of Cavill in his new adventurous role as the quiet and collected monster hunter. Aside from these, there are several behind the scenes photos showing the set pieces and crew members working with Cavill atop mountain ranges. The stills even give us a few shots of the other characters in the series.
Anya Chalotra plays Yennefer, a former lover of Geralt’s from the third Witcher video game. Actress Freya Allen also had some of her character’s stills get released. She plays Ciri, a young woman to whom Geralt becomes a sort of protector and father figure in the Witcher video games.
The show is being brought to life by creator Lauren Schmidt. Schmidt is known for producing and writing a number of Netflix Original projects such as Daredevil, The Defenders and The Umbrella Academy. While there is still no official release date for The Witcher, it can be expected that a teaser trailer is just a few weeks away.
