After the underwhelming response to DC’s Justice League, talks about the two films The Flash and Cyborg came to a screeching halt. Despite the success of Aquaman and the hype surrounding Wonder Woman 1984, it was believed that these two films got the axe for good. However, news has come out about the state of the project. So, despite getting a new Batman and Superman, it seems most of our DC heroes will be staying the same.
Ezra Miller is set to begin working on The Flash once he wraps on Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them 3, which is currently in pre-production and will begin filming soon. There is no word on whether or not Kiersey Clemons will indeed be playing Iris West again. Clemons was on the cast for the film during its first go-around; she also played the character in a deleted scene for the Justice League film.
Christina Hodson is set to be the film’s new writer. Hodson wrote the recent Transformers spin-off Bumblebee and has picked up quite a few DC writing jobs as of late. She wrote the script for the upcoming Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) as well as the Batgirl standalone film that was initially going to be written by Joss Whedon.
The film’s current director is Andy Muschietti. Muschietti is primarily a horror film director, which proved fruitful for the Aquaman film. Muschietti has directed films like IT, Mama and the upcoming blockbuster IT: Chapter 2. While he has not officially signed on yet, rumors say he will be the man in charge.
The Flash seems to be finally getting underway. There is no concrete release date for the project as of yet.
