It was uncertain for a while that there would be a Thor 4. While instrumental to the character’s introduction, Thor and Thor: The Dark World were limited to a specific dynamic. While enjoyable, they were not the most exciting of MCU settings. This all changed when New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi joined the project for Thor: Ragnarok. The character became a flawed, comedic loner who was lost in space. He fought his way through ravagers and gladiators until he would meet up with old and new friends on his journey. He even got a makeover and power-set rearrangement. After this film, Thor was a new character. He became more likable and usable for many more comedic, yet deep and emotional storyline moments in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The latter of which ended with the God of Thunder aboard the Benatar with Star-Lord and the Guardians.
Many believed his conclusion would come in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3, but reports have come out that both Chris Hemsworth and Taika Waititi are gonna go for another one. With Marvel’s SDCC panel just three days away, I’m sure all rumors will either be confirmed or debunked pretty soon. One thing is for certain, Thor 4 could be amazing.
