With Bond 25 quickly approaching, it has been evident that Daniel Craig will be wrapping up his tenure as James Bond. Many have posited their fan casting ideas in Henry Cavill, Idris Elba and Tom Hardy. However, reports are saying that the next 007 has already been cast and will, in fact, be a woman.
Lashana Lynch is a British actress who has been cast in Bond 25 as a character named Nomi. Reports say that after this film, Nomi will actually take up the mantle as 007. This means that James Bond himself will no longer be the focus of these films. This will not only be the first female 007, but also the first African American 007. Seeing that she is acting opposite Craig in the upcoming Bond film, it may also be the first time that a Bond film actually allows us to see a passing of the torch from one 007 to another. That may be an interesting change of pass rather than just a recast.
Lynch’s earliest big break came in her role as Ashanti in Brotherhood, but can most recently be recognized as Maria Rambeau, Carol’s best friend in the MCU film Captain Marvel. No other reports on the matter have leaked, but Bond 25 will be our first look at the character. It hits theaters April of 2020.
Are you excited about the new 007 casting? Who would you have liked to see cast in the role?
