Taika Waititi’s ‘Jojo Rabbit’ satirizes Hitler and the Nazis

Director Taikia Waititi’s new film is a dark comedy and satire about a young boy named Jojo who is friends with Adolf Hitler. He is essentially a little junior nazi who finds out his mother is hiding a jewish girl in their home, according to IMDB:

The film seems reminiscent of Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom blended with that great Taika Waititi humor. Waititi also plays the role of Adolf Hitler apart from writing and directing the film. It is based on the novel of the same name authored by Christine Leunens.

The movie pokes fun at the absurdity of hatred and war over classes, while telling a bizarre coming-of-age tale about a young and bullied boy whose upbringing and outlook may not be too dissimilar to Hitler himself.

Jojo Rabbit hits theaters this October 18th.
